On Sunday, May 3rd, CART presented a tribute to great American author and playwright, Ray Bradbury and award-winning writer/poet/director, Norman Corwin on the occasion of Mr. Corwin's 99th birthday.
Starring in this live radio drama presentation of Ray Bradbury's space tale, LEVIATHAN 99 were:
Sean ASTIN, William SHATNER, Norman LLOYD, Samantha EGGAR,
Richard HERD, Walter KOENIG, and H.M. WYNANT
Also John HARLAN, Robert LEGIONAIRE and Sky McDOUGALL
Both Mr. Bradbury and Mr. Corwin attended the performance.
On his Movie Crazy website. Leonard Maltin said, "Both Norman and Ray introduced the performance; then we were transported to a space ship of the future, with a newly-recruited astronaut joining a band of men—and an other-worldly creature - under the command of a captain who is obsessed with tracking down a super-comet. Yet there were no visual effects, no computers involved; this was what someone once dubbed 'the theater of the mind' brought to life with music, live sound effects, and a peerless cast.
William Shatner and Sean Astin were in perfect synchronization and it was a joy to watch them work. As for Norman Lloyd, who gave a commanding performance as the mad captain, he is a marvel."
